
Mikayla believes that trauma can shape every area of life and that healing requires a holistic, strengths-based approach. She integrates person-centered and mindful approach to counseling to provide a safe and supportive environment.
She brings extensive experience and ongoing training working with adolescents and teens, while also enjoying her work with children and adults of all ages.
Mikayla is especially passionate about supporting LGBTQIA+ clients, advocating for gender-affirming care, and creating a space that honors each client’s unique journey of growth and progress.
Mikayla completed her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Colorado State University and prior to served as an intern with Bonding and Behavior for a full year gaining training, knowledge and practical application of her clinical skills. In her time with our practice Mikayla has worked with complex trauma, family systems, foster and adoption, attachment disruption, personality disorders, sexual orientation and gender affirming care.
Mikayla began her career as a teacher before returning to graduate school to pursue her passion for supporting individuals in a new way. Mikayla holds Bachelor's degrees in English literature and Spanish/Hispanic Studies.

Mikayla's current professional concentrations include continuing to develop her trauma-focused skillset with all ages through expanding her play therapy practice, and increasing her existing knowledge on parts-work such as inner-child healing and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Outside of her clinical work, Mikayla enjoys reading romantasy novels, painting, sewing, and experimenting with creative tea blends. A Colorado native, she describes herself as more “outsidey” than “outdoorsy” and loves thrifting with friends and finding shapes in the clouds.
