Mikayla began her career as an elementary and middle school teacher before returning to graduate school to pursue her passion for supporting individuals in a new way. Mikayla holds Bachelor's degrees in English literature and Spanish/Hispanic Studies.
She is currently completing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Colorado State University and is serving as an intern at Bonding and Behavior.
Mikayla believes that trauma can shape every area of life and that healing requires a holistic, strengths-based approach. She integrates person-centered and narrative-focused counseling to provide a safe and supportive environment where clients can laugh, cry, and grow.
She brings extensive experience working with adolescents and teens, while also enjoying her work with children and adults of all ages. Mikayla is especially passionate about supporting LGBTQIA+ clients, advocating for gender-affirming care, and creating a space that honors each client’s unique journey of growth and progress.
Outside of her clinical work, Mikayla enjoys reading romantasy novels, painting, sewing, and experimenting with creative tea blends. A Colorado native, she describes herself as more “outsidey” than “outdoorsy” and loves thrifting with friends and finding shapes in the clouds.
